Chinese artist Guan Wei's solo show Longevity For Beginners emphasizes the important roles Oriental philosophy and traditional Chinese medicine play in modern life. In his highly stylistic paintings, Guan combines symbols from ancient Asian practices, such as acupuncture, yoga and qigong, with images of nature, body organs and Chinese characters. These fusions reflect society's growing obsession with artificially created beauty. He appeals for a return to a more natural lifestyle.
