The monastery's library will include in its collection a total of 1,000 calligraphic scrolls of the Diamond Sutra and Heart Sutra donated by the country's most influential scribes.
Tourism program starts
Nine provinces along the Yellow River will jointly launch a year-long campaign promoting local tourism and the folk cultures of the Yellow River Valley.
From this month, a series of sports and cultural activities featuring flights of the Haiyan 650-CS amphibious airplane across the Yellow River, art exhibitions and folk performances will be staged at Swan Lake in Dongying, Shandong province.
Cultural activities will be organized by local tourism authorities in Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai provinces and autonomous regions in the coming months, says Wu Xuewen, an official of the State Tourism Administration, a key organizer.
