The 16th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), held from September 3-7, 2009, is organized by the China National Publications Import and Export Corporation (CNPIEC). Its main goals are to expose books from China to an international audience and to introduce international titles to the Chinese market. With English being mandatory for all school children from an early age onward, English language titles lead the enormous growth of the Chinese book market.

Events at the 16th Beijing International Book Fair

Beijing International Book Fair has been held since 1986 and has steadily grown in size – in 2009, more than 150,000 book titles, over 1,000 periodicals and more than 2,000 audiovisual products were on display. It is a book fair for publishing professionals and the general public alike with many events, exhibitions and seminars about books and book publishing.
