Cultural consumption was also a heated topic. Wang Yanan, director of Cultural Study Center of Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, said a sound social safety net would be necessary to activate people’s cultural consumption. Today’s teenagers will be the leading consumers of the future cultural products, and therefore their lifestyle plays a decisive role in directing the country’s cultural industry development, according to Chen Shaofeng, Vice Dean of Institute for Cultural Industries, Peking University.
The animation industry will be further boosted in the following years. More Chinese animation brands will be developed and efforts should be made to help them go global, according to Jin Delong, Director-General of Department of Publicity and Administration of State Administration of Radio Film and Television.
At the forum from June 20 to 21, all attendants took part in heated discussions and finally drew a road map for China’s cultural industry over the next decade.
