The Beauty of Simplicity (Άς): Huaping of Guangxi Province
Last time, we introduced you the Stone
Kingdom, the Tunbao village in China's Southwest Guizhou
province. As a follow-up, we will give you a glimpse of another sub-hot
tourist destination: Huaping Nature Preservation Zone in Guilin
of the southern Guangxi
Zhuang Autonomous Region, with its lush forest and spectacular waterfalls.
Huaping Nature Preservation Zone stretches across over Longsheng and Lingui
counties, covering an area of over 133 million square meters, of which more than
40 million square meters are under absolute protection. The preservation zone is
a nature ecosystem with a treasure of more than 2,000 plant species and over 600
species of rare animals and birds.
The Forest
The forest an area covered by a dense primitive forest, is a major attraction
that provides travelers a narrow but beautiful vision. Bamboo forests abound
here, with plenty of weathered trees and vines overgrown with moss lining along
the road. Moeru frogs as big as a fist can be seen lying by the roadside every
now and then.

The Waterfall
On the
outskirts of Huaping Nature Preservation Zone lies a very beautiful place: the
natural but mysterious Nine-beach Waterfall (Jiu Tan Waterfall). The locals
refer to a drop of elevation as Tan (beach), so Nine-beach Waterfall means the
waterfall has nine drops from the upper reach to the lower reach, with a beach
as part of the waterfall. Although it is said to be the waterfall with the
largest drop in elevation around Guilin
, it remains unexploited.
