Gallery of Ancient Chinese Jade
The Gallery of Ancient Chinese Jade boasts over 400 pieces
of various jade ware and other treasures, including jade ware and treasures used
on ceremonious occasions by the Hongshan Culture and the Liangzhu
Culture during the Neolithic Age. The heyday of Chinese jade ware was during the
Shang Dynasty (16th-11th century BC). Jade ware made in the Zhou Dynasty (11th
century-256BC), which remained virtually unchanged until the Han Dynasty
(206BC-AD220), is the most elegant. After the Eastern
Han Dynasty (25-220), the technique declined. In the Tang and Song
dynasties, jade became more common in daily life.
