A 646.7-meter-long sightseeing tunnel that connects the bund to the Oriental

About the Bund
Regarded as the most
popular site in Shanghai, the Bund ranges from Zhongshan East No 1 Road in the
east, the Outer Baidu Bridge in the north and the Jinling East Road in the
south. It faces the broad "mother" Huangpu River, backing the building complex
with a precise structure and different styles.
Some 150 years ago, when colonists first set foot on this mysterious land,
they took a liking to the great Bund along Huangpu River. As a result, this
track road, once tread by boatmen and laborers, has evolved into a bustling
street with towering buildings along both sides and busy vehicles rushing to and
fro after hundreds of years of development. These buildings, which seamlessly
integrate classicalism and realism, are the landmarks of Shanghai; the essence
of the Bund lies in these buildings, also known as an "international exhibition
of architecture". Famous structures like the China Banking Building, Shanghai
Peace Hotel, Customs House, HSBC Building, etc, recreate the past prosperity of
the "Fareast Wall Street".
Due to its unique geological location and economic influence in Shanghai --
and in all of China -- for the past 100 years, the Bund has boasted very rich
cultural endowments. The river surface, long causeway, beautiful greenbelt and
magnificent building complex form a cityscape that is most typical of the
Shanghai style.
