Lushui Lake

Covering an area of 268.5 square kilometers, the Lushui Lake is located at the outskirt of Chibi City in Hubei Province. The lake is dotted with over 800 islets. Reputed as the pearl of southern area, the Lushui Lake is famous for its sequester hills, verdant forests, limpid water and beautiful islets.

Located on the south lakeside, the Snow-peak Mountain has an area of 18 square kilometers and is 681 meters above sea level. In summer, the temperature on the mountain is 5 to 8 C lower than that at the foot of the mountain. There are a number of historic sites and natural scenic spots on the mountain, such as the sword-testing stone once used by the famous general Lu Xun of the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280), oven for making pills of immortality used by Taoist Ge Hong, Gexian Ancestral Temple, Snow-peak Temple and Sweet-scented Osmanthus Temple. At the foot of the mountain are various water-eroded caves, such as Xuansu Cave, Tianlu Cave, and Peach-Blossom Cave.

In recent years, a CCTV film-shooting base was set up along the lakeside. Constructions inside the base include a folk custom entertainment garden, Three Kingdom City, Xuansu Cave, Jianshi Village, Snow-peak Village, and Viewing-river Pavilion. As a perfect tour spot, the Lushui Lake Scenic Area not only has a primitive and unsophisticated natural landscape, but also has convenient water and land transportation.
