The Site of Force Joining in Wenjia
City in the Autumn Harvest Uprising is 51 kilometers to the southeast of Liuyang
County in Hunan Province. It was originally Wenhua College in Liuyang County
built in1841 in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). In 1921, it was renamed Liren
School. This is a magnificent building complex with more than 20 buildings such
as the front and back halls, the side halls, the Wenchang Tower, Chengde Hall,
etc.
In 1927, after the August 7 Conference of
the Central Communist Party, Mao Zedong returned to Hunan Province. In the name
of the Special Delegate from the Central Committee, he organized the No. 1
Division of the No. 1 Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolution Army. On
September 9, he initiated the Autumn Harvest Uprising at the border of Hunan and
Jiangxi provinces. They once occupied Liuyang County and Liling County. After
the failure, Mao Zedong led the army to congregate at Wenhua College (Liren
School) on September 19, and presided over the Front Line Council at that night.
They canceled the plan to attack Changsha City, and chose the middle section of
Luoxiao Mountains as the next attack target. The next day, after the Huishi
(Force Joining) Celebration, they marched to Jinggangshan Mountain.
At the Site of Force Joining in Wenjia City
in the Autumn Harvest Uprising, there is the former residence of Mao Zedong, the
Meeting Hall of the Front Line Council, the Huishi (force joining) Lawn, and so
on. There is also a display hall of the historical data of the force joining in
the Autumn Harvest Uprising.
