Xuecheng Site comprises the ruins of the
capital city of the Xue State during the Eastern Zhou period (770-256BC).
Irregular in shape, the city has a perimeter
of 10,615 meters, and the winding city wall is about four to seven meters high.
The palace site is located in the center of the city. In the city's northeast
corner are two huge earth tombs believed to be the graves of Mengchang and his
father, Tian Ying of the Warring States period (475-221BC). In recent years a
number of bronze ware from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods
were unearthed around the city site. Also discovered at the site was an
iron-casting site from Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) with a large amount of carved
iron.
