The music was adapted from an ancient melody by Liu Yaozhang around 1925. After the polishing of famous musicians for several decades, the music is gaining its perfection of acme and loved by the people.

With the instruments of Pipa, Chinese zither, drums and wooden fish etc., the melodious rhythm vividly pictures a charming and silent night on the south of Yangtze River. The music can be generally divided into nine parts.
