Remains of literary master Ba Jin cremated

The remains of Chinese literary master Ba Jin was cremated in Shanghai Monday.

Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and some other senior leaders "saw Ba Jin off" at the Longhua Funeral Home and condoled with the family in Ba's death.

Ba Jin, one of China's most respected writers, died at the age of 101 in Shanghai on Oct. 17 after a six-year battle with diseases.

Ba's literary works, including "Family," "Spring," "Autumn," "The Trilogy of Love," "A Dream of Sea," "Autumn in Spring," are viewed as a landmark in modern Chinese literature.

Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, Li Changchun, Luo Gan and other senior leaders visited Ba Jin in hospital when he was seriously ill or conveyed deep condolences on Ba's death through various forms to Ba's family. Enditem
