China Digital Museum has been officially put onto the agenda and has passed
the mid-term acceptance check.
Upon the completion of the digital museum, people will be able to appreciate

collected in the Palace Museum and other national treasures online, as
well as terra-cotta warriors and horses from the Mausoleum of the First Emperor
of the Qin Dynasty, and so on.
According to Dr. Qi Yue with Beijing University of Aeronautics &
Astronautics, the digital museum is an information service system that
integrates computer science, communication science and museum science, and it is
able to collect, manage, exhibit and process information about movable and
immovable cultural relics and can provide Internet users with digital
exhibition, education as well as research via the Internet.
Mr. Yao Zhao, the head of the Technological Information Section under the State
Administration of Cultural Heritage, said that the State Administration of
Cultural Heritage had started preparations for the establishment of a digital
museum years before and stepped up the work in the recent two years.
Mr. Yao added that China Digital Museum actually acts as a virtual
exhibition platform of all contents of Chinese cultural heritage.
