Chinese, Dutch universities jointly foster postgraduates (2004-01-16)
China's prestigious Fudan University and the Delft
University of Technology of the Netherlands have jointly launched a
microelectronics school to train professionals in the field for China.
The Fudan-Delft International School of Microelectronics, launched Wednesday
in Shanghai, east China, will recruit the first group of 25 postgraduate
students this year. Those who do well will be sent to the Delft University of
Technology for 18 months of study and then return to Fudan to finish the
remaining year.
Postgraduate students of the Shanghai-based school will obtain master's
degrees from both Fudan University and the Delft University of Technology.
Fudan University has a history of over 50 years in microelectronics teaching
and related research.
Delft is one of the renowned European universities of technology. Electronics
giant Philips is one of the university's major sponsors.
