1. Photography of Human Body

On March 2nd, 2001, the Exhibition of Photographic Art of Human Body opens in Hangzhou. This Exhibition displays 117 prize-winning photos of human body photography. China's opening to the outside world has made people judge various kinds of artistic forms in a calm and enjoyable light.

2. In Commemoration of 120th Anniversary of Lu Xun's Birthday

On April 13th, 2001, the Central Experimental Modern Drama Troupe of the Central Experimental Modern Drama Troupe puts on a balladry oratorio entitled Mr. Lu Xun in Beijing. This piece of literary and artistic work of Lu Xun's biography is an experiment of a new type of drama. The year of 2001 is the 120th anniversary of the birthday of Mr. Lu Xun, a great writer, thinker and revolutionist in modern China.

3. Modern Ballad Deducing Chinese Classical Story

The ballad Scarlet Lanterns Hanged High is offered to the audience during the period of May 1st, with the well-known Chinese conductor Zhang Yimou holding the post of General Artistic Supervisor. The performers of the Central Ballad Troupe use the modern dancing language to express the loneliness and helplessness of the innermost being of an insulted and injured woman longing for freedom under the feudalism of China.

4. La Traviata Sung Together by Singers of China and France at Different Places

On May 27th, a concert Shanghai-Paris Striding across 2001, jointly held by French TV Studio I and Shanghai TV Station with bilateral satellite transmission, is held at Shanghai Grand Theater and Paris Champs Elyse¨¦s Theater symmetrically. The performance in the two cities, separated tens of thousands of kilometers away from each other but transmitted and linked bilaterally by the Pan-American
¢ô Satellite, forms a grand concert that strides across the space, an unprecedented event in the history of cultural and artistic exchanges between China and France. Seen here are the Chinese and French singers singing fragments of La Traviata in Paris and Shanghai respectively.

5. Appointment of Refined Art in Beijing

On May 3rd, 2001, a part of the Chinese and foreign artists taking part in the get-together activity of the Second Appointment in Beijing gives a performance at the Drum Tower Square in Beijing, having a good time together with the citizens of Beijing. Seen here is the performance given by an art troupe from Uganda. The get-together activity of the Second Appointment in Beijing is a grand large-scale international art gathering held by China in the new century.

6. International TV Week Embracing the World Held in Beijing

On the night of May 19th, 2001, the Beijing Embracing the World, an entertainment at the opening ceremony of the International TV Week in Beijing 2001, is held at Beijing Workers' Gym. Artists, both at home and abroad, give a wonderful performance at the entertainment. Seen here is the Oriental Swan, an acrobatic show given by the Fighters' Acrobatic Troupe of Guangzhou Military Area.

7. Three World Greatest Tenors Singing Heartily in Forbidden City

On June 23rd, 2001, happening to be the Day of World Olympic, the Forbidden City Square Concert of the three world greatest tenors is held at the Wumen (one of the palace buildings in the Forbidden City) Square in Beijing. The three world greatest tenors, Pavarotti, Carreras and Domingo, sing heartily at the Wumen Square, attracting tens of thousands of audience. 

The ancient oriental civilization of China and the open-mindedness of the modern China add boundless charms to the Western opera art.
