1. Boxing Champion Hollyfield Gets Hot Kiss in Forbidden City
in Beijing
On May 19th, 2001, Tang King, the well-known promoter of
professional boxing in the world, visits the Forbidden City in Beijing with
boxing champions Hollyfield and Louis. In front of the Taihe Dian (The Hall of
Supreme Harmony) Hollyfield is at a loss when faced with an enthusiastic boxing
fan.

2. French Students Get Chinese Chef
Certificate for Completion of Courses
In May 2001, 10 students from the
Ducai Senior Hotel Management College in France get the Chinese Chef Certificate
for Completion of Courses after one month's study and practice at Sichuan
Cooking Institute -- the only cooking institute in China.
The Ducai Senior Hotel Management College in
France established a friendly exchange program with Sichuan Cooking Institute in
1994. Every year the two parties send their teachers and students to the other
party for exchanging the way of cooking Chinese and Western food. For eight
years, more than 2,000 students have participated in this program. Seen here are
the French students tasting the Dandanmian (a kind of street vendor's noodle
served with spicy hot sauces only) cooked by themselves.

3. Air France People Come to China to Learn
Chinese
In June 2001, 13 Air France
crewmembers participating in the Asian Service Plan of Air France come to
Beijing Language and Culture University to have an intensive training of Chinese
for one week. They have an intensive learning of the Chinese language and
understanding of Chinese culture in the forms of singing Chinese songs, training
of oral Chinese for air service, and attending lectures on Chinese
culture.

4. English Teachers from US Sing Song of
Music Again in Countryside of Tianjin
In the spring of 2001 three American
teachers were invited to teach English at Yinghua Elementary School at Wuqing
District of Tianjin. Not only do they teach the 200 country pupils pure English
but also bring with them relaxed and pleasant teaching ways of combining
education with recreation, which make the pupils find themselves in an entirely
new world. The three foreign teachers, getting together with the kids from
morning to night, fall in love with these lovely country kids as well as this
piece of hot land on the outskirts of Tianjin, which is changing with each
passing day. Seen here are the teachers dancing cheerfully with the kids in the
country.

5. Canadian Child Prodigy on Network Arises
General Concern in Shanghai
On July 11th, 2001, the Youth
Festival and the Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs' Forum of the APEC convene at
Shanghai International Convention Center. 230 young entrepreneurs, specialists,
scholars and government officials from the economic community of the 21 member
countries of the APEC and other participants are to study and discuss how to
increase the youth's ability in the fields of making creation, doing pioneering
work, doing business and making investment and how to promote the process for
the youth to participate in the economic cooperation of the APEC, surrounding
the theme of The Youth Welcome the Challenge of New Economy: Promotion of
