Established in April, 2004, China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) is the
first large state-owned cultural enterprise approved by the State Council,
restructured on the format of the China Performing Arts Agency and China
International Exhibition Center.
CAEG is funded by the State Council, policy-guided by the Ministry of Culture
and supervised by the Ministry of Finance in its state property operation. CAEG
consists of 19 wholly owned enterprises including China Performing Arts Agency
(CPAA) and China International Exhibition Center (CIEG), two share controlling
enterprises and one share holding enterprise. As the CAEG's core companies, both
CPAA and CIEC have a history of more than 50 years. Being the sole organizations
in China that manage global business, CPAA and CIEC have been the largest
worldwide providers of Chinese performing arts and visual arts, as well as
China's biggest presenters of international performances and arts exhibitions.
Over the past decades, CPAA and CIEC have undertaken governmental cultural
exchange projects, as well as organized commercial tours of performances and
exhibitions both at home and abroad. During the recent two-and-a-half years
alone, CAEG has arranged 256 overseas performances and exhibitions, among which
216 performing arts troupes have presented more than 14,000 performances in
nearly 60 countries and regions with an audience of 20 million.
CAEG owes its establishment to China's deepening reform and opening up
policy. As the country's cultural business leader, CAEG will continue to serve
as the main official channel for cultural exchanges with foreign countries.
