  Newly Rising Sun, Urtin Duu

Newly Rising Sun, Urtin Duu or the 'Long Tune' of Mongolia Ethnic People
By Aodeng Gaowa, Naren Tuoya, Batu Suhe, accompanied by the horse-headed stringed instrument by Wulan Bate'er

Urtin Duu or the 'Long Tune' is a historical Mongolian folk music song dating back to the 7th century A.D. when the Mongolians were shifting from a hunting life along the Argun River to a nomadic life on the western Mongolia Grasslands. The type of the Long Tune also varies on different occasions. There are madrigal, choral, toasting, wedding, and home songs. It is now enlisted as an Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO.

Lyrics of the Newly Rising Sun

Glorious, Merciful and Generous
As you are, the newly rising sun
Endow all the creatures with your kindness
And with us, the Songs and Feasts
Enjoy eternal joy and happiness
