HK's Mickey celebrates Chinese New Year

Hong Kong Disneyland announced Thursday that starting from Feb. 2, it will launch one month's celebration for the Chinese New Year's Day falling on Feb. 18, the second such holiday for Mickey since its landing in Hong Kong in 2005.

The park has already been decorated in red and gold, lucky colors in Chinese tradition. Bright crackers, peach follower trees and lucky greetings make the park soaked in holiday atmosphere. And guests who visit the park during holiday will be welcomed by special stage show and Disneyland friends in traditional Chinese outfits, said a spokeswoman of the park.

Shadowed by the incident during last Chinese New Year holiday, when the park turned away hundreds of ticket holders because of the park was full, and Hong Kong Disneyland this time wants to try its best to make up, she said.

If the park was full packed during the Chinese New Year holiday, they will let guests know before they get to the entrance, the spokeswoman said, adding that if they have already arrived at the gate they will be provided other kinds of entertainment around a nearby lake to avoid any incident of refusing guests.

Besides, the opening time of the park will be extended during the holiday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time and traditional Chinese holiday food and products will be introduced for the special occasion, she added.
