
The Council of the Central People's Government at its fourth meeting adopted
the resolution on the National Day of the PRC on December 2, 1949.
The First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference (CPPCC) passed the proposal that the Central Government shall
establish October1 as the National Day of the PRC to replace the old on October
10.
The Council of the Central People's Government believed that the proposal
conformed to the reality of history and represented the will of people, and as a
result decided to take it.
The Council of the Central People's Government proclaimed: October 1,
proclaiming the founding of the People's Republic of China, is adopted as the
National Day of the PRC as of 1950.
On October 1 every year, the Chinese people celebrate anniversary of the
founding of the PRC from then on.
