More than 200 Russian works of art are being
exhibited at the
China Art Gallery in
Beijing, as part of the Russian Cultural Festival.
The exhibition features 110 rare paintings from Russia¨s prestigious
Tretiakovskaya Gallery, including the masterpieces of Kramskoy and Repin.
Meanwhile, some 100 sculptures and paintings by contemporary Russian artists
are shown at the gallery, reflecting their attitudes towards historical events
and real life.
Earlier, the official Xinhua News Agency unveiled China¨s official website for
activities concerning the Year of Russia and the Year of China, which are aimed
at promoting bilateral exchanges in various fields.
The bilingual website, www.2006rus.com, consists of more than ten sections,
including the latest news, experts¨ opinions, online polls, netizen discussions
and media commentary.
Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed in
2005 to hold the Year of Russia and the Year of China in each other¨s country
respectively in 2006 and 2007.
