Introduction to Xinjiang Muqam Arts Ensemble, Muqam art and the performance
Xinjiang Muqam Arts Ensemble
Xinjiang Muqam Arts Ensemble was established in 1989.
Its main missions are to inherit, collect, edit and perform Uygur classical
music and local songs and dances, Muqam art in particular, to research and
develop the performing art and to train artistic personnel in this field so as
to make contributions to the introduction, popularization and development of
Uygur Muqam art.
The administrative organs of Xinjiang Muqam Arts
Ensemble include Muqam research office, song teams, music teams, dance teams,
choreographic teams and the general office. It now has 141 performers and
working staff, many of whom are Muqam singers, players and
researchers.
Since the founding of the ensemble, they have rehearsed
a lot of Muqams, ethnic and local song and dance programs as well as ethnic wind
and string performances. Besides, they have also completed the edition and
recording of the Muqam music, published and issued a large number of academic
papers and monographs, and achieved many scientific
results.
Xinjiang Muqam Arts
Ensemble has long been engaged in presenting performances at grass-root levels.
In addition, it is also world-oriented, having visited Britain, Germany,
Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Indonesia, Pakistan, Iran, Sudan, Japan,
Mauritania, Tunis, Morocco, Korea, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan region. The
performances by Xinjiang Muqam Arts Ensemble received great success.
