"Envoy of Peace from China" Exhibition Tour Kicks Off in Kuala Lunpur

On July 5, activities launched by the Chinese Ministry of Culture in commemoration of the 600th anniversary of Zheng He's great voyages and the "Envoy of Peace from China" exhibition tour kicked off in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia.

The opening ceremony was co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the Malaysian Ministry of Culture, Art, and Cultural Relics. Premier Wen Jiabao dedicated an inscription of "Navigation Pioneer, Friendship Envoy" to the opening ceremony, while Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi presided over the ceremony, delivering the keynote speech.

Besides Badawi, over ten other Malaysian ministers and vice ministers also attended the ceremony and watched the exhibition with enthusiasm. Held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, the opening ceremony was a great success.

The "Envoy of Peace from China" exhibition tour will vividly present the glorious achievement of Zheng He's great voyages through a number of photos and real objects.

After Malaysia, the exhibition tour will go on to other countries and regions, following the path of Zheng He's seven great voyages.

As July this year marks the 600th anniversary of ocean voyages by Zheng He, a great navigator of China's Ming Dynasty, people from all walks of life are celebrating this event in different means.

  Commemorative Stamps

A set of commemorative stamps was debuted on June 28 in the Ocean University of China based in Qingdao, a port city in Shandong Province, to mark the 600th anniversary of maritime expeditions by Zheng He, a seafarer in the15th century.

In addition to China Post, both Hongkong Post and Macao Post also issued a set of three commemorative stamps and a stamp booklet on Tuesday. This is the fifth stamp issue jointly conducted by the three postal administrations.

The three stamps issued by China Post depict a likeness of Zheng He, exploration, trade and diplomacy, seamanship and the science of navigation. The stamp booklet features Zheng He's mighty fleet.
