Various kinds of lanterns have become a symbol of festive occasions, when they can be seen hanging almost anywhere, such as along the streets, in the stores, or under the eaves. In particular, when the Lantern Festival comes, every household hangs lanterns, illuminating both the inside and outside of the house, which symbolize the family will have a particularly peaceful year.

Traditional lanterns are made by pasting paper over a bamboo frame and placing a candle or an oil lamp inside. There are also flower lanterns, such as shrimp lanterns, fish lanterns and lotus lanterns.
