Beijngers: Hailing the New Year at Temple Fairs

    

Temple fairs, which are traditional cultural events featuring all kinds of Chinese folk activities, are one of the most important and grand activities during the Spring Festival in Beijing . For those who haven't got the time to travel outside Beijing, taking part in temple fairs might be quite enjoyable. Here is a list of temple fairs that will be held during the Spring Festival:

  Temple Fair at the Temple of Earth

Time: February 8-15, 2005.
Place: Ditan (The Temple of Earth) Park.
Activities: a folk flower fair, an acrobatic show, Quyi performances, a fashion show, a tea serving,
and a puppet show, as well as other activities.

  Temple Fair at White Cloud Taoist Temple

Time: February 9-15, 2005.
Place: White Cloud Taoist Temple.
Activities: folk art performances, snacks with local flavor, and an exhibition of Taoist culture.

  Temple Fair at Changdian

Time: February 9-15, 2005.
Place: From the Hepingmen intersection of South Xinhua Street, Xuwu District to the Culture Square along Hufang Road through the Hufang Bridge Intersection to the south.
Activities: a variety show, a cross-talk show, a traditional lion dance, a stilt dance, and Dancing
God of Fortune, rickshaw, and folk wedding performances, as well as other activities.
