Literary professionals comment on 'A Family of Book Collection'

Yueju Opera "A Family of Book Collection", a candidate play for "Wenhua Award", was presented in Hangzhou Theater on September 22. Comments on the performance was rather mixed. The experts from Zhejiang Dramatist Association and Zhejiang Writers' Association and the playwright Wang Xufeng, held a discussion on the opera from the viewpoint of traditional creation yesterday afternoon.

They noted, compared with the old edition, the new edition is more centralized in terms of the contents and its characters are more polished. According to the experts, the basic principle for judging a traditional opera lies in whether its theme and figure are worth writing. "A Family of Book Collection" expressed the importance of being persistent, which is needed by people of modern times. Therefore, they concluded, it is a good opera.
