"Courtyard South of North Street" performed by Beijing
People's Art Theater was presented in Hangzhou
Theater on September 23, winning high praise from audiences.
The drama, against a background of SARS outbreak, evolves around the affects
and humorous daily trivia at a courtyard isolated during the SARS outbreak.
Investing his passion and exploiting vivid theatrical dialogue, the playwright
portrays a group of characters, who showcase the courage, selflessness, optimism
and open-mindedness in face of this unexpected disaster. With many twists and
turns, the play brings a strong Beijing
Hutong cultural atmosphere onto the stage。
"The biggest characteristic of this drama features a Beijing
accent and the representative customs of Beijing, such as diabolo and kite,
also make appearances in the drama", as is said by one of the audience.
It is the first time that "Courtyard South of North Street" was staged in Hangzhou
as a candidate program of the Seventh China Arts Festival.
