'Macao Bride': dance has no bounds Updated: 2004-09-24
The "Macao Bride" created by the Macao Act Art College and the Wuxi
Song And Dance Ensemble tells a love story between a Macao sailor and the
daughter of Portugal captain. They fall in love at the first sight and seek to
elope, but the daughter of Portugal captain is kidnapped by the pirates. So the
hero rescues her with the help from other sailors. The last scene witnesses
their reunion.
Seemingly stereotyped, it attracts large crowds of audience by being close to
the masses, which is the method pursued by the contemporary dance artists. The
director also use various exotic dance arts to present the romantic love story.
Lots of dance dramas express their connotation via songs, computer light and
other methods while the "Macao Bride" uses the art of dance alone to
move the audience.
