Opening ceremony: the largest mist-effect stage Updated: 2004-09-16
On the opening ceremony of the Seventh China Arts Festival, the stage is
perhaps the most eyes-catching part, as the tides of Qiantang
River, the drizzle, the morning mist and the West
Lake mist´the spectacular natural scenery is simulated flawlessly for the
stage, turning the stage into a world of mist.
The opening ceremony made full use of manmade mist, as nearly half of the
programs used the mist to exhibit their own features. Mist is the soul as well
as the most eye-catching part of the opening ceremony.
According to the major creation personnel, the misty effects are created by
employing more than ten groups of fog-forest mirage systems with over 2,000
sprayers. The system is mostly used in outdoor scenery designing, and the
opening ceremony marks the first time for its use in stage performance.
