The Seventh China Arts Festival opens in Hangzhou Updated: 2004-09-12
The Seventh China Arts Festival kicked off in Hangzhou
on September 10. Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central
Committee, was present at the opening ceremony and read out the congratulatory
letter sent by Hu
Jintao, President of China, to the Seventh China Arts Festival.
Li Tieying, vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, was also present at the
opening ceremony.
Xi Jinping, secretary of the
Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhejiang Provincial Committee, chairman of
the Standing Committee of Zhejiang People's Congress and vice director of the
organizing committee of the Seventh China Arts Festival, announced the opening
of the arts festival. A man in his 90s and a girl of five stroke a giant gong to
signal the start of the 17-day festival.
