Ladies and Gentlemen:

In the golden autumn days and by the side of the beautiful West Lake, the Seventh China Arts Festival finally raises its curtain. I'd like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere congratulations to the literary and art workers from different places of the country and my warmest welcome to the distinguished guest from home and abroad! I'd also like to express my heartfelt thanks to the 460 million people in Zhejiang Province.

The purpose for us to hold the arts festival is to demonstrate to the people the abundant achievements in art and literary creation and the new accomplishments in the cultural undertaking over the last few years. From this point of view, China Arts Festival is a feast of culture and arts, and a festival for the people. With a variety of art activities, the feast has become an important way of prospering the cultural and art cause and has been providing an opportunity to expose to the people the excellent works of art. I believe the Seventh China Arts Festival, with its distinct features and abundant achievements, will be remembered in the course of the development of culture and art.

To create art works with zeitgeist and national features is the divine mission of the art and literary workers, so we must try our best to bring into birth a more brilliant and advanced culture, providing quality food for the soul of our people and making greater contributions to the prosperity of our country and to the advancement of the mankind.
