Fourth China Arts Festival

The Fourth China Arts Festival was held in Lanzhou City of Gansu Province from August 18 to 28, 1994.

This year's festival had the theme of unification, reform, and prosperity, and aimed at retaining art masterpieces while carrying forward national culture. A total of 29 stage performances and 13 celebrating performances were given to the audience, together with exhibitions of cultural relic, folk custom, painting, photograph, calligraphy and Gansu local custom. The mass art activity was an important part of this year's festival.

During the festival, economic, technological and tourism activities achieved great success, such as the five meetings, the five lines and the five streets. The festival played an important role in promoting economic development of Gansu and the northwest region at large as well as the overall social development.
