Third China Arts Festival

The Third China Arts Festival was held in Kunming City of Yunnan Province from February 18 to March 3, 1992.

This year's festival focused on the art of ethnic minority groups, attracting nearly 20,000 artists from all provinces and municipalities nationwide, including Taiwan Province.

During the festival, numerous great performances were presented to the audience, such as song and dance of various minorities and dramas of different styles, including the Peking Opera, Jiangxi Opera, Jin Opera, Sichuan Opera, Shanxi Opera, Gansu Opera, Yunnan Opera, and Lantern Opera. Besides professional performances of symphony, ballet, opera, drama, and acrobatics, mass amateur groups from various places also provided 42 stage performances and 7 celebrating performances, with a total of 204 shows, attracting 250,000 audiences. The audience attending the festival totaled 4 million people.

By combining art with economy, technology and tourism, the Third China Arts Festival made a great achievement. Its 5 exhibitions and 9 economic and technological exchange activities achieved great success, drawing over ten thousand visitors. During the festival, more than 300 technological agreements and investment contracts were signed with transaction value totaling RMB8.4 billion. The revenue of tourism reached US$5 million. This year's festival gained great profits, promoting both the local economic development of Yunnan Province and the socialist material and spiritual civilization.
