China Art Festival kicks off in Accra

The China Art Festival raised its curtains in Accra of Ghana, "the golden seashore", on the night of August 1.

More than a thousand people, including officials of Ghanaian government, Chinese corps diplomatique in Ghana, Chinese and overseas Chinese in Ghana and people from all circles, attended the opening ceremony and watched two exhibitions and an evening show of singing and dancing and acrobatics performances.

Over 50 photos featuring "Beautiful China" and 40 pieces of embroidery artworks were exhibited in Ghana National Theater constructed with the help of China.

On open ceremony, Li Xin, head of the culture delegation of Chinese government, thanked the Ghanaian government for their support for this large-scale cultural exchange activity. The Ghanaian tourism and capital modernization minister conveyed President John Kufuor's words that the way for different peoples to understand each other is for them to know each other's culture. The Ghanaians will see the similarities and differences between Chinese culture and Ghanaian culture through the China Art Festival.

After the photo show and the embroidery exhibition, there staged a performance presented by Hunan Singing and Dancing Group and Yunnan Acrobatics Troupe.

The China Art Festival in Ghana is the last art festival of China Cultural Tour of Africa, and will last one week. After that, Hunan Singing and Dancing Group and Yunnan Acrobatics Troupe will perform in Mali and Cape Verde. Shandong Martial Art Group will go to Nigeria. The China Cultural Tour of Africa will end on August 13.
