Photo Show of ¡®China in Focus ¡¯99¡¯ Held in Nepal
For intensifying
the Nepalese people's understanding of China and promoting the friendly
relationship between China and Nepal, the Cultural Department of Chinese Embassy
in Nepal and Nepalese World Cultural Net jointly hold a photo show of China in
Focus '99 in Kathmandu.
The opening
ceremony of the show is held on February 28th, 2001 with the participation of
over 200 people from all circles of Nepal. Ojha, Minister of State of Nepal,
Zhang Tiegen, Chinese Charg¨¦ d'Affaires ad Interim in Nepal, and Sarkar, President of the World
Cultural Net of Nepal, deliver a speech successively. The visitors speak highly
of the tremendous achievements made by China since its reform and openness. They
have every reason to affirm that this cultural activity will further intensity
the mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two
countries.
The exquisite
photos taken by the foreign photographers from their unique angles of views
attract the audience's attention. The audience express one after another to the
workers of the Chinese Embassy that this is one of the best photo shows they
have ever seen. With the help of these photos, they are deeply impressed by the
tremendous changes in China and the charm of the Chinese culture.
Due to the fact
that the photo show is located at the center of Kathmandu, a downtown area,
large numbers of audience are attracted, coming in an endless stream. Quite a
number of audience write on the visitors' book that the photos on display are
exquisitely made with interesting content, which help them to have a better
understanding of China and arouse their strong desire to go to China for a
visit. Some Japanese visitors leave a message after watching the show that they
will go to China for sightseeing and see the beautiful scenes of China with
their own eyes. Many visitors speak highly of the tremendous achievements made
by China. During the show, over 3,000 copies of pamphlets about China are
distributed.

of China in Focus, '99 wins very favorable response in Nepal and is reported
by the Nepalese TV Studio, four newspapers including The Rising Nepal, and
