Mt. Wudang is located near the city
of Danjiangkou, central Hubei Province. The construction work was done in the
Tang Dynasty (627-649), and added in the Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties
(960-1644). There were such constructions completed as 18 Taoist temples and 36
nunneries completed in 1418. The ancient constructions on Mt. Wudang were
included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1994.
Mt. Wudang is a famous Taoist center
in China. Among the temples there, the most magnificent one is the Golden Hall,
built in 1416, which is made of fine copper on a granite foundation. A great
many Taoist relics still kept there are precious cultural
relics.
