A photo show of the Republic's Album of 2002~2001, prepared and organized by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, was held at the Overseas Students' Center of Philippine National University. The Cultural Department of the Chinese Embassy in Philippines provided abundant photos and precious materials while the Friendship Club of the overseas Chinese students in the National University of Philippines undertook this activity.

This photo show concentrates on reflecting the development and the status of China in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education, physical culture, construction of infrared structure, social development, environmental resources and ecological protection in the past two years, helping the friends from various countries to have a better and further understanding of China.

A few hundred teachers and students of the university from China, Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Japan, the United States and other countries visited this show. They expressed their congratulations on and admiration for the achievements of China made in the development. They held that the maintenance of the rapid growth of the Chinese economy, under the background of universal slack economy in the world, particularly attracted the world's attention, which reflects the ability and wisdom of the Chinese leading group and the Chinese people. The important historical events, such as the successful sponsorship of the informal meeting for the leaders of the APEC, the successful sponsorship of the Olympic Games in 2008, China' entry into the WTO, and the dream of China to join the World Football Cup coming into reality, are only the miniatures of the great achievements of China's reforms and opening-up. They also reflect the fact that China is full of confidence, capable to facing the challenges and winning even greater achievements in the new century by making use of the global opportunities. Undoubtedly, it is a great contribution to the course of world peace and a great development for the peace-loving China with a population of 1.3 billion to march along the prosperous road.

This photo show is a component part of the International Cultural Festival held by Philippine National University once a year. At the party of the Cultural Festival that night, the Chinese overseas students from the Mainland and Taiwan had a chorus of the song entitled Man Should Constantly Strive to Become Stronger on the same stage and give a performance of taijiquan (a system of physical exercises). Their marvelous performances won applauses wave by wave from the audience.
