On December 8th, 2001, a few dozens of mass organizations of the overseas Chinese in San Francisco Bay held a large-scale luncheon at the Grand Wydham Hotel in San Jose for the celebration of China's entry into the WTO and a large-scale photo show of New Features of China, organized by the Cultural Group of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, was also held at the same time at that hotel.

China's entry into the WTO has become a hot topic in San Francisco Bay and the Chinese nationals residing abroad and the overseas Chinese have seen a beautiful prospect for China to rise. For letting the local public figures have a better understanding of the progress made by China in various aspects in recent years so that they can strengthen their domestic ties and cooperation, the Cultural Group of the Embassy has elaborately selected 104 photos from three groups of photos, Republic's Album, New Beijing and New Olympic Games and Important News Events in 2000, made exquisite photo frames, wrote new captions, and named them New Features of China. The content of this group of photos includes the tremendous achievements made in the fields of politics, economy and trade, diplomacy, application of Olympic Games, science and technology, as well as the scenes of people's daily life, showing vividly the completely-new features of China in an all-round way.

On December 8th, around one thousand people visited the photo show of New Features of China, including a Congressman of the American Federal Government, a Congresswoman of the State of California, Zu Bingmin, Chairman of American Consultative Committee of Asian-Pacific Descendants Affairs of the White House, the county and city VIP's at the South Bay, leaders of overseas Chinese mass organizations in the Bay Area and the people from all walks of life.

The photos of the Republic's Album in serial displayed on the show this time has achieved a complete success with the features of interesting new approaches, suitable materials widely selected, no mistaking of what the photos aims at, high artistic quality and strong sense of reality and enjoyableness.
