On February 28th, 2001, a large-scale photo show of the Republic's Album of 2000~2001 was solemnly open at the Branch Museum of the National Museum in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The government officials of Warsaw, the people from the circles of culture, information and physical culture, the representatives from the Chinese Embassy to Poland and the Chinese reporters stationing in Poland, over 100 people in total, participated in the opening ceremony.
The curator of the Branch Museum of the National Museum of Poland said at the opening ceremony that the achievements of the Chinese people made in various aspects since the founding of the New China 53 years ago, particularly in the recent 20 years or so, had attracted the worldwide attention and been highly praised by the various countries in the world. The large-scale photo show of Republic's Album of 2000~2001 reflects the great achievements made by China in the fields of politics, economy, culture and education in the years of 2000~2001. Though the time span of the photos is short, they reflect vividly a picture of prosperity in China and the mental outlook of the Chinese people. China is a great nation with a long history and the people of Poland are greatly interested in China. This kind of activity can make the Polish people have a better understanding of the present China so that contributions can be made to promote the cultural exchanges between the two countries and to improve the mutual understanding of the peoples of the two countries.
After their visit to this photo show, the Polish audiences expressed their admiration for the achievements made by China in various aspects. They thought that China's successful application for sponsoring the Olympic Games and China's entry into the WTO were the world's full confirmation for the achievements of China made in the reforms and opening-up. They also wish that at the same time when China is developing towards the direction of a strong and powerful nation in the world China will also play a more and more important role in maintaining world peace and in international affairs.
