A photo show of the World Cultural Heritage in China, co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy in Canada, Quebec Canadian Research Institute and Quebec Library, was held at the Great Hall of Quebec Library from 5th to 16th September.
Mayor of Quebec, Government Affairs Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Canada Lin Difu, Cultural attach¨¦ Yang Xuelun, Director of Quebec's Canadian Research Institute, Curator of Quebec Library, people from the press and other circles in Quebec, totaling nearly 100, attended the opening ceremony.
Mayor of Quebec Lean-Paul L'allier, who has visited China many times, delivered an enthusiastic address at the ceremony. The world cultural heritage in the photo show has offered an extremely good opportunity for the Canadian people to understand China's splendid culture, he said. The photos have reflected the friendly relationship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
On display are a series of photos depicting 23 UNESCO world cultural heritage sites. During the two-week show period, thousands of visitors came to the show in a continuous flow. More than 800 visitors made favorable comments in the visitors' book, praising highly China's splendid culture and spectacular landscape. A visitor wrote, So much is China's world-level cultural heritage. It proves clearly that China occupies an outstanding position as world culture is concerned. The distinguished Quebec photographer Michael Brian, who has been to China many times for artistic creation of photography and once held in Quebec a China-themed individual photographic show, said after visiting the show, These wonderful photos have left a deep impression on me. The show helps me to better understand China's history, culture, geography, tradition, philosophy, and architecture, enables me to see China's beauty as a whole from different aspects, and at the same time let me know how well the world-level cultural relics have been protected by the Chinese government. He concluded that the show was no doubt a good way to demonstrate the history, culture and scenery in all regions of China.
