To mark the 30th anniversary of the
restoration of China's legal seat in the United Nations, Chinese Embassy in
Egypt held a photo show entitled World Heritage in China at Cairo on December 19th. The show was warmly
welcomed.
The 50-plus color photos displayed at the
Egyptian International Cultural Cooperation Center focus on 27 sites listed as
the world cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO. Among them some are well
familiar to foreign tourists such as the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace and the
Temple of Heaven, and some are not so familiar to them such as Jiuzhagou, Wudang
Mountain, Chengde Summer Resort in and the Confucius Temple in Qufu; and some
are not popularly known even among Chinese people, such as the ancient city
Pingyao and Dujiangyan water conservancy project.
Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liu Xiaoming cut
the ribbon for the opening ceremony and made a speech. He pointed out that with
the shift and renewal of conception concerning human survival, to cherish the
living environment of mankind and to protect cultural and natural heritage have
been taken more and more seriously by international society as a common cause to
all, a cause that is a great service to mankind through the ages.
The photo show of the World Heritage in
China was held with the energetic support of Egyptian Ministry of Culture. About
200 people, including Egyptian government officials, people in information and
cultural circles, and foreign diplomats in Egypt, visited the show on the
9th.
