A photo show of the World Heritage in China was opened at Viet Nam Art Gallery on the morning of the 21st.
The show was co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy in Viet Nam and Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Communication. The 52 exquisite photos on display revealed the cultural splendor and scenic beauty of UNESCO cultural and natural heritage sites such as China's Great Wall, Taishan Mountain, the Imperial Palace, the terra cotta soldiers and horses of the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty, Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang, etc.
Vietnamese Minister of Culture and Communication Wu Hongguang, Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam Qi Jianguo and Vietnamese chief executives of departments involved attended the opening ceremony and watched the exhibits with great interest.
Wu Hongguang said at the opening ceremony that China is a country with an old civilization of 5,000 years. Among her innumerous places of historic interest and scenic beauty, 29 have been examined and approved by UNESCO as world cultural and natural heritage sites. The show presented here would serve to reflect China's efforts in protecting her unique national culture and beautiful scenery.
Ambassador Qi Jianguo also spoke at the meeting. He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese people could better understand China's cultural and natural heritage through the show. He believed that the show would be contributive to a more profound friendship between the people of the two countries. The show is to last till January 2nd, 2002.
