On January 11th, 2002, a photo of World
Heritage in China and a film show, co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy in Myanmar
and Myanmar Ministry of Culture, were successfully opened at Rangoon National
Museum.
On display are 58 photos depicting world
heritage in China and 50 photos of China's Peking Opera. The 14 films to be
shown include DVD disks, documentaries and feature films such as Let World
Filled with Love, Man River, Perching as After Flight, etc.
There are also installed large-screen TV sets and computers for visitors to
watch Chinese videotapes or read CD material. The show is to last till the
17th.
Myanmar's Minister of Publicity, Foreign
Minister and Minister of Culture attended the opening ceremony. Over 400 people
were present including Myanmar government officials involved, foreign diplomats
in Myanmar, and overseas Chinese.
Myanmar Minister of Culture reviewed at the
ceremony the cultural exchanges between the two countries. He highly commended
the show run by Chinese Embassy, saying that each time it is held, it is richer
in content and greater in scope than before, so that more and more Myanmar
visitors are interested in the show, which helps to widen their
horizon.
Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Li Jinjun gave
an account in his speech of China's cultural and natural heritage. He pointed
out in particular, We shall never forget that Myanmar was, in that significant
year, one of the 23 sponsor countries of the resolution that China's legal seat
in the United Nations should be restored.
The opening ceremony was grand, animated and
colorful, fully reflecting the brotherly sentiments shared by people of the two
countries that will be ever intensifying in the coming new
century.
