World Heritage in China Held by Philippines Chinese Language School

On February 18th, the Philippine Chinese language high school Qiaozhong Institute held in the once-a-year Chinese Language Week a photo show of the World Heritage in China, with photos provided by Chinese Ministry of Culture. It received warm welcome from teachers and students. Local Chinese language media positively reported the event.

The Philippine Qiaozhong Institute is a well-known local Chinese language high school. Students in that school are required to learn Chinese language and Chinese cultural knowledge in a specified period of time every week apart from learning the state stipulated courses. According to regulation issued by school authorities, a Chinese Language Week activity is held every year around the Chinese New Year. The teachers and students are required to communicate in Chinese language at that time.

The photo show of the World Heritage in China, with photos provided by Chinese Ministry of Culture, had been held in dozens of countries in the world starting from the second half of the year 2001. The first show, co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy in Philippines and Philippines National Culture and Art Commission, was held for a month in December 2001 at Philippines' world heritage site. After the show at the Qiaozhong Institute, it will go to the First Manila Sino-Philippines Cultural Festival and then move on to the northern provinces.

At the opening ceremony held on February 18th, Chinese Embassy Office of Culture presented to Qiaozhong Institute optical disks in Chinese and English languages and postcards called World Heritage in China. The school's board of directors stated their mind that they would treasure the gift and let more high school students in Philippines know better about the legacy shared by the whole mankind.
