World Heritage in China Entering into Philippine Campus

Starting from March 4th, a photo show of the World Heritage in China sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture was held at Philippines' Asia and Pacific University. It was the first time the show appeared in a Philippine university, following the one held last December at Philippines' National Culture and Art Commission and the two held in February this year at Philippines' Chinese Language School and at the Philippines-China Traditional Culture Festival respectively.

At the opening ceremony of the show, students studying Chinese language and art at the Asia-Pacific University Art and Science Institute sang Chinese songs. President of the institute Dr. Traba and Cultural Attach¨¦ of Chinese Embassy made impromptu speeches. Dr. Traba said that cultural exchanges between China and Philippines went back to a long time in the past, that the Philippine culture had assimilated beneficial elements in Chinese culture, and that the show would be conducive to a further understanding of China for Philippine students. The Chinese representative gave an account of how the show was held in other countries. He stated his view that the university, as was the very place where human civilization handed down, was just the right place for the show to be held. He wished that the students would study hard to make contribution to human progress and China-Philippines friendship.

Exceedingly interested in the show, over 300 visitors came on the opening day. Among them, apart from students and teachers, some were from various circles in Philippines. These people said afterwards that the show had helped them to learn more about China's history and culture and roused their aspiration to have a tour of China.
