Photo Show of World Heritage in China in Nepal

A series of cultural activities co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Nepal Bhadgaon City Government and Nepal-China Association were held in the celebrated cultural and tourist city Bhadgaon during April 20th-22nd, 2002.

The opening ceremony was held at Bhadgaon Anigo Hall on the morning of April 20th. President of Nepal Farmer-Worker Party, Counselor of Government Affairs of Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Mayor of Bhadgaon, and Secretary General of Nepal-China Association attended the meeting and each made an enthusiastic speech respectively.

The activities consisted of two parts: a photo show entitled World Heritage in China which displayed 50 crystal photos and a film festival in which 5 excellent Chinese films were shown including Heng Kong Chu Shi (Perching as After Flight), Peep Show, My Father and Mother, Yi-Xi Zhuo-Ma, and Unrequited Love for the Yellow River.

President of Nepal Farmer-Worker Party and Mayor of Bhadgaon, after watching the exhibits full of interest and attending the ceremony of the premiere, set a high value on the show and the film. The local citizens showed great enthusiasm for the activities, in particular for the film shows.

In order to enable the locals to better understand the great achievements China had obtained since reforms and opening-up, and the new aspect in China's social development in recent years, the Organizing Committee added two documentaries -- Story of a River and a City and Hot Land in the West -- before the feature films. Some local inhabitants said excitedly that they hoped more activities like this would be held so that they could have opportunities to further understand China.

The activities achieved a great success.
