At 7 o'clock on the evening of September 16th, 2002, a large-scale photo show of the World Heritage in China was solemnly opened at Amman, capital of Jordan.

There were altogether 58 photos on display, revealing 27 sites of China's cultural and natural heritage approved by UNESCO. At the opening ceremony, the Cultural Department of Chinese Embassy in Amman played optical disks in Arabic language. By using advanced equipment such as computerized projectors, sound, light, and image complementing one another, the disk-show fully demonstrated China's splendid culture and spectacular natural scenery.

The event was co-sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Jordan and Jordan's Great Amman Municipality. Chinese Charge d'Affaires Li Chen and the Great Amman Municipality Vice-Mayor Abdu Lahim attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon. About 150 people were present at the ceremony including the Sino-Jordan Friendship Association President Halid Travene, Vice-President Fahiz Nevalle, Jordanian personages in various circles and foreign diplomatic envoys in Jordan. Also attended were a number of journalists from such newspapers as the Speech and the Charter. The exhibition was to last 15 days till September 30th.
