To celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the opening ceremony of World Heritage in China photo show was held on September 24th at the Lithuania Congress Building. The ceremony was jointly presided over by Ushernas, First Deputy-President of the Congress and Chinese Ambassador to Lithuania Chen Yuming. Nearly 100 people including personages of Lithuania presidential palace, congress, government, and friendly people from various circles as well as foreign diplomatic envoys to Lithuania were present.
Vice-President of the Congress Ushernas congratulated first of all on the 53rd anniversary of China's National Day. He highly commended the significant position Chinese culture holds in the world, saying that China's splendid culture and fantastic landscape presented in the wonderful photos on display is sure to leave a deep impression on visitors. He expressed his hope that there would be opportunities for people to see present-day China with their own eyes. Ambassador Chen gave an account of the efforts Chinese government had made in the protection of world's cultural heritage. He also expressed his hope that the show would help Lithuania people to better understand Chinese history, appreciate Chinese culture and enjoy Chinese scenic charms, and that mutual understanding between people of the two countries would be enhanced through cultural exchanges.
