The Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra is a national level symphony orchestra founded on the basis of the Chinese Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direct jurisdiction of the General Bureau of Radio, Film and Television of China with Yu Long as Art Inspector General and First Conductor.
The Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra was officially founded on May 25th, 2000 with the development of the undertaking of the symphony orchestra in China as its mission and with the ambition of developing it To Be Ranked Number One in China, To Stand Forefront in Asia and To Become Well Known in the World as its target. The Orchestra has collected numerous outstanding musicians from home and invited a number of outstanding performers from abroad. It has become one of the largest symphony orchestras with greatest potentialities for development in Asia.
On December 16th, 2000, the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Art Inspector General Yu Long, gave its first performance in Beijing. It achieved great success. In the following six months after its founding, the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra held quite a few concerts, performing a large number of Chinese and foreign symphony masterpieces.
The performance activities of the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra are highly spoken of by the musical circles, news media and music fans.
