To implement the central government's strategy of developing the Great West and giving preferential treatment to the Central and Western regions in economic development, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade has started to organize every year since 1995 China Interior Region Investment Promotion Delegation to visit Japan. So far seven of such delegation has been organized.

China Interior Region Investment Promotion Delegation is composed of government leaders of some of China's western provinces. During their stay in Japan, the delegation is to pay official visit to Japanese officials in charge of economic affairs, conduct exchanges with heads of major Japanese economic entities, call on chiefs of businesses relevant to China's interior region constructions, visit principal enterprises and hold China's Interior Region Investment Exposition Meeting.

All previous delegations have attained satisfactory results in their investment promotion activities. They have also publicized the strategy and determination of Chinese government to develop the central and western regions of China and enhanced foreign business people's understanding of the aforesaid regions. In the past Japanese business circles, knowing little about China's inland provinces, had limited investment and trading transactions there. Therefore the investment exposition meeting is conducive to introducing and publicizing to Japanese business circles the investment environment and specific projects in that area.

The 8th China Interior Region Investment Promotion Delegation organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade is to visit Japan on a day in 3rd 10-day period of October.
